Description
The footbridge on Phoenix Lane in Dunfermline dates from the later 19th century and is constructed of cast iron. It features a single basket-arched span supported by four piers that have decorative foliate capitals on either side. The bridge has cast-iron steps with timber treads that ramp down to ground level on both sides. It is enclosed by a latticed balustrade or parapet throughout its length. At the junctions of the landings and at ground level, there are square-plan cast-iron newel posts topped with ball finials.
