Description
The railway viaduct on Bruce Street in Dunfermline was built in 1849 for the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway. It features eight spans and is constructed from coursed rockfaced sandstone with droved ashlar dressings. The viaduct has segmental-headed arches that include impost bands and ashlar voussoirs and soffits. There is a band course above the arches, and the walls are coped. Wide pilaster strips are located on either side of the narrower, almost round-arched flanking outer arches. Some sections of the upper part of the wall have been replaced with brick.
