Description
The Old Dovecot in Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline, is a circular-plan tower dovecot dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, featuring Gothick detailing. It is constructed from coursed stugged sandstone rubble with droved ashlar dressings. The structure has an eaves band with brackets that support a projecting crenellated parapet. The entrance, located on the south side, has a pointed arch and a replacement boarded timber door. Above the entrance is a cross-shaped arrowslit, flanked by recessed quatrefoil panels. The dovecot is topped with a conical grey slate roof, which features an octagonal louvred timber vent with a metal cap at the apex. The interior has not been inspected since 1998.
