Description
The Old School House is a building constructed from local limestone rubble with ashlar dressings. It features a schoolroom and a two-storey master's house attached to the left. The main façade has three bays facing the castle drive. To the left is the master's sitting room, which includes a mullion-and-transom window with a diamond lattice casement, and above it is a 2-light bedroom window set in a plain bargeboarded gable. The centre of the building has a gabled porch with a replacement door. To the right, there is a large gable that contains a 3-light mullion-and-transom window with diamond lattice lights for the schoolroom, along with a ventilator in the gable above. The building has two tall stacks with round shafts. The rear service quarters have been altered. The interior was not seen during the resurvey.
