Description
Lower Farm Cottage, dating from the 18th century, is a single-storey and attic cottage with a thatched roof and a red brick chimney. The main south elevation is rendered and painted over local rubblestone and is visible only from the street. The cottage features two-light wooden casement windows and a boarded door, both set under timber lintels, although specific details are uncertain. The thatched roof is styled in the West Country manner, complete with a decorated ridge and thatch that sweeps over the left-hand dormer.
The rear elevation includes a casement window on either side of a gabled porch, with an eyebrow dormer positioned above the porch against the chimney stack. A low limestone rubble boundary wall extends from the right end of the house, enclosing a large rectangular forecourt and featuring a second pedestrian gateway at the front. The interior details were not available during the resurvey.
