Description
Home Farm Cottage and Thatchers End are two cottages, likely originally one building with an outhouse that was later converted. They date from the 17th century or early 18th century and are constructed of painted rubble, with a plain finish at the back and a thatched roof. The interior is not accessible, and the layout is not fully determined, but the structure suggests it was a two-room cottage with a stair turret at the back right and gable stacks. To the left, Thatchers End features a bay that may have been added, with an external gable stack and a deep, swept-down roof at the back.
The cottages are two storeys tall and have one window on the left part and two windows on the right. The left side has a two-light casement window with glazing bars and a plank door beneath a thin wood lintel, set in a heavy frame with ovolo-moulding. The return gable has a 20th-century opening and door, along with another two-light casement window. Home Farm Cottage has two two-light casements, one of which is from the 20th century, positioned under two closely set glazing bar casements with a narrow section of wall between them. To the left is a glazed 20th-century door in an opening with a wood lintel. At the back, there is a two-light glazing-bar casement and a small square light for the stair turret. The interior has likely been modified over time.
