Description
Veronica Cottage is a 17th century stone building that has been limewashed. It features rendered ridge and end stacks on the left and a brick end stack on the right. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has an uneven pitch, being higher at the rear. The main part of the cottage includes a rear projecting staircase bay and a cut-off corner at the edge of the lane. There is an extension to the side that forms a stable, and a central gabled porch.
On the rear elevation, there are three 3/3 pane casement windows on the first floor, each with timber lintels positioned close under the eaves, along with a small single pane casement window on the ground floor. The staircase bay has a small light, and the corner features a small window with a moulded eared surround. The front elevation displays a range of three 3/3 pane casement windows, a gabled porch, and a moulded dressed stone hood.
Inside, the cottage has a three-room layout with a single-depth design. The hall retains an open fireplace with a deep chamfered bressumer and a brick bread oven. To the left of the fireplace is a recess with a window, and to the right is a staircase. The interior also features stop-chamfered beams and close-set joists.
