Description
The lighthouse on the breakwater at Porthcawl Harbour is a Grade II listed structure made of cast iron, painted black and white. It stands on a hexagonal stone base, which is set on a rectangular stone plinth located just behind the outer sea wall. The tower is tapered and features a battered plinth, with small vents bolted midway up each side. There is a hinged metal door with a handle and catches. At the top, there is a moulded band supporting a replaced bolted circular domed cap with a small round finial. The lighthouse has curved bolted frames for glazed panels and is awaiting repairs following storm damage in 1996. A metal ladder leading to the door is no longer present.
