Description
Black Nore Lighthouse is a Grade II listed structure made of a riveted cast-iron frame that is painted white. It features a tapering, round tower divided into three stages, standing approximately 11 metres high.
The exterior of the lighthouse includes a tall first stage with openwork canted stanchions and x-frame ties or tension rods. This latticework design was used to minimize wind resistance. An external iron ladder provides access to an entrance hatch located beneath the second stage. The second stage contains porthole openings and a gallery with metal railings, supported by angled brackets. Above the gallery, the lantern stage features a fixed rectangular window made of storm panes, with V-profile metal glazing bars. The tower is topped with a domed cupola cap that has a ventilator. The interior has not been inspected.
