Description
The stables and coach house at Rheola House are a stable block and coach-house built from coursed squared stone, featuring dressed stone quoins and surrounds for the windows and doors. The building has small pane windows with curved heads, consisting of 15 panes on the ground floor and 10 panes on the first floor, both with glazed curved heads. It also has plank doors and a hipped slate roof.
The structure is arranged in a U-shape, with a two-storey stable wing to the west and a coach-house to the south, along with a later single-storey garage wing to the east, which encloses a courtyard. The stable wing has six bays, offset to the left, with two windows on either side of two ground floor doors. The north gable elevation features a single window on the ground floor to the left. The rear elevation has four windows on the ground floor and a wide doorway to the first floor, offset to the left. The coach-house wing consists of five bays, with four wide carriage entrances on the ground floor to the left, featuring double doors, a narrow door with a window above, and an additional window to the right. The rear elevation has four windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor.
The building has been partially converted, but the stable wing still retains its original stalls and loose boxes on the ground floor, supported by cast iron pillars, railings, and feed baskets. The internal timber floor structure has been replaced, and the coach-house wing has lost its original partitions and fittings.
