Description
The coach-house and stables at Coedarhydyglyn is a large structure built from rubble, featuring low-pitched hipped slate roofs and a red brick ridge stack. The windows are primarily small-pane, with most being casements and some sliding sashes. The main block, which runs from west to east and contains the stables, has three loft windows that are evenly spaced across the front. Below this section is a lean-to that has a deeply recessed central entrance with double doors and a 6-pane overlight, flanked by cross-framed windows on either side.
Prominently projecting to either side are hipped roof coach-houses, each with two pairs of boarded double gates and camber-headed small-pane windows on the inner sides. The rear of the building features similar windows, some with cambered brick heads, and a central opening that has a stone voussoir head.
Inside, the building retains its original layout and furnishings, which include loose-boxes with boarded stalls, basket arched openings supported by carved animal-head corbels, iron mangers, and other fittings such as an iron sink. The floor is made of stone flags, and there are stairs leading to the lofts, which feature an intact range of king-post and strut trusses.
