Description

8 Wind Street is a three-storey building with a basement, featuring seven windows and constructed from bull-nosed snecked masonry. It has a slate roof and a dressed stone stack at the center of the front, which bears the inscription "REBUILT 1868."

The building showcases a brick and stone entablature at the eaves cornice, adorned with dentils. The second floor has Victorian sash windows that are shallow in depth. The stone lintels above these windows have pointed tops and are complemented by an "impost band" and stone sills, which rest over a brick and stone corniced sill band. The first floor boasts eight large panes in deep sash windows, featuring stone voussoirs and stressed keystones, along with a dentilled stone sill band. The ground floor has five plain sash windows in the center, with doorways located in the outer bays. These doorways are topped with lintels that also have stressed keystones. Below the moulded "impost" band, there is grey ashlar work. The entrance features panelled double doors and a rectangular fanlight. The plinth is made of bull-nosed masonry, and plain iron railings enclose a sunken forecourt.

Inside, the building retains heavily corniced ceilings, and there are some traces of earlier work visible on the rear elevations.
