Description
17 Court Street is a two-storey building dating from 1869. It features five windows on the first floor and has a slate roof. The eaves cornice is dog-toothed and moulded, with end pieces shaped like brackets. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a moulded string course below the first-floor sill level.
On the first floor, there is a central single-light round-headed window, flanked by two sets of two-light round-headed windows. The ground floor has stuccoed pilasters with hop plants carved in deep relief at both ends and on either side of the central doorway. The round-headed doorway is recessed and is framed by a stuccoed chamfered voussoir with corbel stops. The keystone features the date 1869 and the initials N S. Flanking the doorway are four round-headed windows set in embrasures, which are behind carved stuccoed voussoirs supported by small shafts with decorative capitals.
