Description

This is a 16th century timber-framed house with a plastered front, located on Court Street. The first floor overhangs on a moulded bressummer, with a projecting beam at the north end. Two gables above are also jettied on a bressummer and brackets. The roof is tiled. The building is two storeys high with two windows. It has two bays on each floor; the first-floor windows have a cove beneath. Two doorways are present, each with a moulded architrave surround and a six-panel door. The top two panels of the doors are cut away and glazed, while the centre two panels are fielded. Nos. 39 & 39A are part of a group including Nos. 40, 41 to 48 (consec), and Nos. 8 and 10 Market Place.
