Description

This is a pair of 18th-century frontages applied to earlier, 17th-century buildings located on Court Street. The properties are two storeys tall with an attic, each featuring two windows and one dormer. They are stuccoed and have a string course, cornices, and parapets. The roofs are tiled and hipped. Number 42 retains its original glazing bars on the first floor and features a small shop window. Number 43 has no original glazing bars and displays a modern shop front with a prominent, deep modern fascia. Half-hipped gables face onto Middle Row, with some original windows remaining. The buildings are part of a larger group which includes numbers 39, 39A, 40, 41 to 48, and 8 and 10 Market Place.
