Description
This is an early 19th-century building of three storeys, originally two bays wide. It has a hipped slate roof and a red brick front with a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The windows are set in frames, and retain their original glazing bars. A modern plate glass shop front with a fascia occupies the ground floor. The east-facing side, overlooking Middle Row, features a 19th-century shop window and doorway. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 39, 39A, and 40, Nos. 41 to 48 (consecutively numbered), and Nos. 8 and 10 Market Place. The group value derives from their collective architectural character and historical association.
