Description
Herbert Hall is a three-storey building with a five-window front made of scribed stucco, dating from the 18th century. It features a slate roof with wide bracket eaves and end chimney stacks that have grouped octagonal brick flues. The central cross gable includes a blind octofoil roundel. Most of the recessed windows on the second floor have been replaced, while the first and ground floors retain 12-pane sash windows. The central area has a broad tripartite window with a moulded cornice and a bracketed sill, flanked by two-pane sashes beside a central blind arched opening with a panelled base. Below, there is a pitched roof porch adorned with ironwork decoration on the uprights, spandrels, and pediments. The entrance features a half-glazed door with a fanlight, and to the right, there is a lozenge leaded half-glazed door.
Inside, the building retains an ornate Jacobean open well staircase that has been reused from a previous house, featuring a four-centred arch to the right. The plaster ceilings in the hall and dining room are decorated with cornices.
