Description

Ynysmaerdy Incline bridge is a deep single-span bridge constructed from snecked, rock-faced sandstone. It features a round arch made with tooled voussoirs, which is set at an angle to the road. The side walls of the bridge are battered, creating a horseshoe-shaped profile. The battered abutments that support the embankment are built at oblique angles to the bridge and are ramped down to ground level. Both the bridge and the abutments have rock-faced copings, and there is no parapet.
