Description
Penmaen Farmhouse and an adjacent cottage are a pair of buildings. The farmhouse, facing west, is likely 18th century, with rubble stonework that has been rendered, covered by a slate roof with a tile ridge. It has cast-iron rainwater goods and rendered chimneys, including a party wall chimney and two brick chimneys to the south. The gable ends rise to a small coped parapet. The primary facade features two four-pane timber casement windows above and below, with a small, central porch containing a vertically boarded door. An additional bay extends to the south, constructed partly of stone and partly of brick, and contains a steel window above and a 16-pane two-light timber window below. There are two windows at the rear (east).
The cottage to the north, facing east, similarly is likely 18th century, and has 8- and 12-pane timber casement windows above a central door flanked by a two-pane casement and a two-pane fixed light. A modern porch with a patent glazing roof shelters the entrance. A small, four-pane timber window is located at the rear (west).
