Description
The Lime Kiln is a bow-shaped structure built from the hillside using axe-dressed local limestone, which is roughly coursed. It features two working recesses that are slightly angled, facing east and north. The east-facing recess is approximately 2.5 meters deep and has a segmental arch with a span of about 2.5 meters. The north-facing recess is about 3.5 meters deep, with its segmental arch spanning around 3 meters. Both recesses have straight sides but are corbelled over the working hole. Only the drawhole of the east-facing recess is visible, which has an iron bar.
Inside, the kiln is lined with fire-brickwork that is one brick thick, with the top 2 meters of this lining visible. The kiln has a diameter of about 2.5 meters at the top.
