Description

Sycamore House is a farmhouse and adjoining cottage, now functioning as a house, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with later alterations and additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed and squared ironstone and brick, partly rendered, and features concrete tile roofs. It has a single ridge and two gable brick stacks, along with a single brick coped gable.

The house is two storeys high and consists of five unequal bays, arranged in an L-plan. The east front features an off-centre 19th-century gabled porch supported by octagonal wooden posts, which is adorned with an elaborately decorated bargeboard and a drop, leading to a six-panel door. To the left of the porch is a two-light 19th-century casement window with a wooden lintel, followed by a canted two-storey bay window from the late 19th century that has three plain sash windows on each floor. To the right of the door, there is a canted 19th-century bay window with three plain sashes, and beyond it, a single casement window with a wooden lintel. Above these, there are two 19th-century three-light glazing bar casements and a similar two-light casement to their right, all featuring wooden lintels.

To the right, there is a single bay cottage with a 19th-century three-light casement window with a wooden lintel, and above it, a sloping dormer that contains two two-light casements. On the north side, to the left, there is a 19th-century two-light casement window, which is flanked on the left by a projecting half-round bread oven with a slate roof. Above this, in the gable, is a two-light casement window with a segmental head. To the right, there is a single-storey range with a single 20th-century casement window, flanked by two single 19th-century two-light casements. Beyond this, to the right, is a smaller single casement window.
