Description
The North Lodge at the west entrance to Stapleford Park is a Grade II listed building, now functioning as a house. It was built in the mid-19th century and has mid-20th century additions. The lodge is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone, featuring limestone ashlar dressings and a thatched roof. It has decorative fretted bargeboards with drops and a coped square stone ridge stack.
The lodge is a single-storey structure with two bays, designed in a T-plan. The south front showcases a central gabled porch that includes a chamfered and moulded Gothic arched doorway with a close boarded door, flanked by small chamfered pointed fixed lights. Beyond the porch, there are single two-light cross mullioned casements with moulded surrounds and flat hoods.
On the west side, there is a casement window, and to the right, a gabled wing with another casement. The east side features a wing on the left with a thatched square bay window and a casement, followed by a plank door. To the right of this, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed addition that includes a re-set triple lancet. This building was originally erected as a lodge for the main entrance to Stapleford Park.
