Description

Bryan's Lodge is a mid-19th century and 20th-century lodge that has been converted into a house. It is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone and brick, featuring limestone ashlar dressings and a Collyweston slate roof. The building has a chamfered plinth, a first-floor band, quoins, and patterned bargeboards with drops. A paired coped stone gable stack is set diagonally.

The lodge is two storeys high and has three bays, arranged in a T-plan. The south front features a gabled porch on the left, which has a moulded Tudor arched doorway with a hood mould and a plank door with ornamental hinges. Above the porch is a square moulded blank panel. To the right, there is a 20th-century lean-to single-storey addition that matches the style, featuring a six-light wooden mullioned casement with elliptical heads and leaded glazing. Further right is a lean-to porch with a single chamfered casement. Above this, on the right, is a gabled dormer with a bargeboard and a two-light mullioned leaded casement.

On the east gable, the centre slightly projects and contains a central two-light mullioned casement, flanked on the left by a moulded four-centred arched doorway with a plank door. Above this doorway is a three-light cross mullioned casement, with all openings featuring flat hoods. To the left is another four-centred arched doorway with a keystone, and to the right is a lean-to single-storey bay with a mullioned casement.

The north side has a three-light mullioned casement on the right and a lean-to with a 20th-century casement on the left. The west gable includes a central hipped bay window with a four-light mullioned casement, and above it is a two-light mullioned casement. To the right is a small chamfered casement. This building was originally erected as a lodge for the southeast entrance to Stapleford Park.
