Description
Holygate Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge that has been converted into a house. It is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone with timber framing and brick nogging, featuring ashlar dressings and a Collyweston slate roof. The building has a chamfered plinth, a first-floor band, and a jettied first floor with decorated bargeboards. It includes a grouped lateral stack with octagonal coped stalks and is two storeys high with three bays.
The south front features a central gabled porch with a Tudor arched doorway and a small chamfered casement on each side. This is flanked by single three-light mullioned casements with flat hoods. The jettied north gable has a three-light mullioned casement, with a hipped timber mullioned oriel window above it. On the west side, there is a cross mullioned casement to the left and a gabled wing to the right, which includes a canted bay window with cross mullioned casements. Above this, there is a three-light cross mullioned casement with a hood mould. The east side features a gabled wing with a two-light mullioned casement on each floor, both with hood moulds, and a single casement to the right. This lodge was originally built as the entrance to the southeast of Stapleford Park.
