Description
The Old Rectory is a house that was originally built as a rectory in 1789, with additions made in the mid and late 19th century. It is likely designed by George Richardson. The building features coursed and squared ironstone and limestone ashlar, along with ashlar and brick dressings, topped by hipped slate roofs. There are four corniced stone gable stacks, a plinth, and bands at the first and second floors. The structure is two storeys high with garrets and consists of three bays.
The south front has a central cross-transomed French window flanked by lights, with single glazing bar sash windows on either side. Above this, there are three similar sash windows. At the top, a shaped gable carries four stacks and features a central six-light sash window. On the west side, there is a 19th-century addition to the left with a door and overlight, accompanied by a cross-mullioned casement with a segmental head, and a glazing bar sash to the right. The north gable includes two 19th-century glazing bar sashes with segmental heads on each floor.
