Description

Bryn-rhos is a farmhouse built from whitewashed rubble stone, featuring a hipped, deep-eaved slate roof with end-wall stacks, a roughcast stack on the west end, and a small brick stack on the east. The flat eaves are supported by metal brackets, which may be an alteration.

The north front faces the farmyard and has three 16-pane cambered-headed sash windows on the first floor. On the ground floor, there is a 20-pane sash window to the left and a smaller pair of casement windows to the right, which have ten small panes each. The center of the ground floor features a half-glazed door beneath an added timber glazed hood. The south front, which faces the garden, has late 19th-century four-pane sash windows with stone voussoirs above their cambered heads and painted slate sills. The center window is blank, positioned above a door with a cambered head in an added porch. The east end of the building has no windows.

On the west end, there is a two-storey lean-to with a low pair of casement windows under the eaves to the left, and two pairs of ground floor casement windows on the west side, with one on the south end, both featuring brick voussoirs above their cambered heads. There is a small one-storey outbuilding attached at the northeast corner.

Inside, the farmhouse has a center passage plan with the main rooms located on the south front. The staircase is situated on the west side of the passage, leading to a rear hall that has a six-panel door. The rear of the house includes a narrow kitchen to the northwest with pine joists, and a former tack-room to the northeast.
