Description
The barn and cart shed at Newcourt Farm is a 19th-century structure built from roughly coursed red sandstone rubble and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The large barn features opposed doors in the center and two slit vents on either side. The doors facing the road are plain, while a large projecting gabled porch is present on the farmyard side. The gable end of the barn has two tiers of slit vents, and the opposite gable has been extended to accommodate a two-bay cart shed, which has openings on the yard side—one with boarded doors and the other with a modern concrete block jamb.
Inside, the barn has a five-bay layout supported by four principal rafter trusses with ties, three tiers of purlins, and an arched ridge piece.
