Barn and Cowshed at Park Lodge Farm

The barn and cowshed at Park Lodge Farm are constructed from random red sandstone rubble, which is now entirely painted, and feature Welsh slate roofs. This L-shaped building has the barn facing south, aligned with the farmhouse to which it is attached. The cowshed was added to the barn and extends southward from it, positioned to the right of the main doors. The south wall of the barn includes only a small square vent located to the right of the plank threshing floor doors, which reach up to the eaves. The roof is plain.

The cowshed consists of two storeys, with a hayloft situated above the byre. On the ground floor, there are three windows and three doors arranged in the sequence of window, door, window, door, door, window. Above, there are three openings leading to the hayloft, with the left pair designed as sloping top half dormers. The gable end features a small window below and a slit vent above, while the rear has a large opening on the ground floor. The rear of the barn also has slit vents.

The barn has been reroofed using timbers of light scantling, with principal rafters supported by three tiers of purlins. Some of these timbers may date back to the 18th century.
