Description
The Pentre is a large, three-storey house built in the 19th century. The main block is faced in stone but is entirely painted, with rubble rear wings and a natural slate roof. It features a double depth central entrance plan and has five sash windows topped with shaped lead hoods. The ground floor windows are adorned with architraves that have a Greek key pattern. A cast iron verandah spans the entire front of the house, supported by six slim cast iron posts and topped with a tented lead roof. The central entrance includes a double part-glazed door with a web fanlight. The windows consist of 6 over 6 pane sashes on the ground and first floors, and 3 over 3 on the second floor. The roof is hipped overall, with large stacks at either end.
To the left gable, there is a large Victorian iron and glass conservatory with a domed roof, and a late 20th-century orangery or swimming pool has been added behind and to the right. The rear of the building was not seen during the resurvey, but it is said to have older, lower wings that have been more altered. The interior was also not available at the time of the resurvey, but it is reported to include a contemporary staircase and fireplaces.
