Description

This is a long, low barn constructed of thin-coursed sandstone rubble with partially timber cruck construction, featuring a natural slate roof. The barn is part of a group of four, situated on Chapel Lane. The north end has 19th-century embellishments, including a 19th-century gable with bargeboard on the west side, although this is not original to the barn, which extends south from a through carriageway. The east-facing yard elevation has four doors and eight windows, all modern casements of varying types. The north end walling has been rebuilt, with two brick relieving arches over blocked doorways. A blocked cart entrance is situated on the east elevation, along with modern features and weatherboarding. The road elevation is obscured by the gardens of adjacent houses, with alterations including modern doors and windows, and additional slit vents. The interior is said to be of cruck construction with upper crucks, although it was not accessible for resurvey.
