Description

The Tythe Barn is a long, low barn constructed from thin coursed sandstone rubble, featuring partly timber cruck construction and a natural slate roof. The north end of the barn has 19th-century embellishments, including a gable with bargeboard on the west side, but this section does not extend south from the through carriageway. The entrance is located on the east side, facing the yard, and includes four doors and eight modern casement windows of various types. The north end wall has been rebuilt, and there are two brick relieving arches for doorways that have been blocked. Additionally, there is a blocked cart entrance at No. 2 and two slit vents at No. 1.

The elevation facing the road consists of the gardens of the houses, with further alterations to the walling, including various modern doors and windows, as well as more slit vents. The interior is not available for review but is reported to be partly of cruck construction with upper crucks.
