Description
The Stable Range at Cwm Bwchel Farm is a two-storey building constructed from roughly coursed red sandstone rubble, topped with a corrugated sheet metal roof. It features a steeply-pitched roof and has a cill course separating the two storeys. On the ground floor, there are three doorways; the left and centre doorways have heavy chamfered frames, while the doorways on the left and right have old boarded doors with strap hinges. The upper floor contains two windows, with the right window featuring oak diamond mullions and a larger central window. There is a modern lean-to below the left gable, and to the right, there is a later addition, likely from the mid-19th century, which includes a door and a small window.
Inside the main block, there are massive roughly-chamfered transverse beams that support the loft. The structure includes two pegged principal rafter trusses—one with a collar and tie and the other with a collar only—along with three tiers of purlins, although the roof has likely been replaced at some point.
