Description
Great Manson Farmhouse is a two-storey building constructed from roughly coursed red sandstone rubble, topped with a roof made of concrete tiles and slate at the rear. It features a double depth plan with the main elevation facing south-east and consists of three bays. The doorway is offset to the right and is adorned with voussoirs and a keystone. To the left of the doorway is a 6 over 6 pane sash window, also with voussoirs, and there is a small inserted window near the doorway. To the right of the doorway is another 6 over 6 pane sash window, which does not have voussoirs. On the upper floor, there is a casement window to the left and another casement window above the doorway, set in a reduced opening. A small window has been inserted in the left return gable.
At the rear, which was not visible during the resurvey in June 2004, there is a single-storey wing built at right angles. This wing has a slate roof, two tall brick chimneys, and a doorway sheltered by a gabled hood. The square windows in this wing feature voussoirs and casement glazing. The interior details were not available during the resurvey.
