Description

The former shop at Olde Mason's Arms Public House is a building from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of stone with a painted brick facade and has a 20th-century artificial slate roof. The building features two bays and stands two stories tall, topped with a gable stack.

On the ground floor, there is a full-length 19th-century symmetrical shop window flanked by end pilasters, with a central pair of glazed doors. The shop window is supported by triple brackets at the ends and intermediate brackets that hold up a continuous canopy. The first floor has two widely spaced sash windows, one with nine panes and the other with twelve panes, both featuring Brecon hoppers. At the rear, there is an off-centre door that has been blocked.

In front of the building, there is a cobbled yard with edging that defines a path leading to the public house door. The shop is only eight feet wide and was originally divided into a shop area and a kitchen to the right, which included a corner fireplace. A staircase at the opposite end leads to the upper floor, which has a matchboarded ceiling.
