Description
The Former Infants' Wing at Model School is a single-storey building designed in the Gothic style, constructed from squared rubble stone with ashlar dressings. It features a steep slate roof with coped gables. On the west side, there are two 4-light mullion windows flanking a large central lateral chimney. The windows have cusped heads and timber casements. The external chimney-breast is detailed with three shouldered steps, and the upper part appears to be inset, possibly indicating it has been rebuilt. To the left of the stack, there are two 20th-century roof lights, and a buttress is located at the right corner. A link wall with a door is positioned at the left corner.
Each gable end includes a small trefoil opening at the apex and a 2-light pointed window with a quatrefoil head. The east side has been altered and now features two widely spaced single-pane lights that are flat-headed and have plastic glazing. Additionally, there are three 20th-century skylights in the roof. The building was extensively altered during its conversion in 1989 and has not been inspected since.
