Description
The remains of a monastic grange at Penallt Farm consist of a rubble-stone wall that is approximately 25 meters long and up to 6 meters high, forming the outer west wall of a two-storey block. There is a rectangular projection to the left of the center, which may have been for a stair. To the left of this projection, there are two windows in the lower storey with segmental heads, and above, there are openings for four windows. To the right of the projection, there is a doorway and corbels on the first floor, possibly for a stack. Further to the right is a single window in the upper storey and a doorway near the right end. Behind the wall are return walls and a rear wall that enclose rooms, with field walls attached at both ends. At the time of inspection, the structure was overgrown with ivy.
