Description
Pen-yr-Allt Farmhouse and the attached byre is a 17th-century, three-storey farmhouse. The south front is made of stone rubble and features gable parapets, a slate roof, and later brick chimney stacks. There is a boarded door located off to the far right, with two casement windows on the left side of each floor. To the right, there is a lower two-storey extension also constructed of stone rubble, with a slate roof, a window on each floor, a tall brick end stack, and an outside stair on the right side. At the rear, there is a two-storey cross range. To the left, there is a later attached byre and loft range, which is also made of rubble and includes an inserted brick pigeon loft with wooden cills at the top right. The byre has several partially blocked openings, timber lintels, and a boarded door, along with a lean-to at the left-hand end.
The interior is said to contain chamfered beams and joists, as well as a good inglenook fireplace with a curved bressumer above. However, it was not inspected at the time of the survey in December 1996.
