Description
Plasnewydd Cottage and Farmhouse is a two-storey, five-bay house built of brick and stone, which is rendered and painted white. It features a slate roof with later 19th-century red brick chimneys. The design is uniform but slightly irregular in shape. The main door is offset to the left and has an unusually large 12-pane overlight above it. On either side of the door are two 24-pane sash windows, with five similar windows above, one of which has had the glazing bars removed from the upper sash. At the rear, there is a one-storey range with an attic, constructed of brick and stone rubble, also painted white, and topped with a slate roof. To the right, there are remnants of an earlier, possibly 17th-century stone mullioned window, with only one light visible. The property has undergone various 20th-century alterations.
Inside the main farmhouse, there is a staircase with irregular flights. The balusters date to the early 18th century, but the form and flights of the staircase likely incorporate the lower flights of an earlier 17th-century staircase. The interior also features various ceiling beams.
