Description
The gates and gatepiers to Penlan Park were built in 1908 and feature Art Nouveau ironwork. The gates are made of fine cast iron and are adorned with applied wrought iron leaf ornament on the taller end panels and central cresting. The headrail is topped with spear-pointed dogbars.
Central plaques display floral bosses and lettering on scrolls, with "PENLAN" on the left gate and "PARK" missing from the right gate. There are also modern signs attached that do not match the original design. The gatepiers are tall, rusticated, and made of rock-faced ashlar, featuring dedication inscriptions.
