Description
The Pwllheli gates, dating from the early 20th century, are located at the entrance to Amgueddfa Lloyd George, set within a curved re-entrant of the roadside wall. The tall gate piers are made of squared rubble and feature offsetting top courses that create a rough cornice. These piers are topped with a step and tall urn finials that have flaming gadrooned tops. The wrought iron gates, crafted by the Glaslyn Foundry in Portmadoc, include side panels and are designed with a lock and a top rail that rises from the monogram crest at the center to the elephant and castle badge of the donor town. Additionally, slate plaques are mounted on the outward-facing side of the piers, recording significant dates.
