Description
The grave of David Lloyd George is an oval enclosure made of local stone rubble. A pebbled path leads down from the road to the entrance, which features a gabled arch with a round-headed doorway and an iron gate. Above the gate, there is an oval slate plaque engraved with his name and an oval opening adorned with an iron monogram. The walls, which are 1 meter high, curve around and step down to ground level, with the encircling path sloping up to provide a view into the central area before descending 14 steps to the river front. Inside, the grassed area features an oval pebbled-paved center where a boulder sits, the spot where the former prime minister would sit by the river. Two slate plaques inside read "DAVID LLOYD GEORGE" and "1863 / 1945." The design of the monument incorporates softly curved shapes that blend with the natural surroundings, using local materials and taking advantage of the site's natural levels to ensure visibility into the central area while preventing unauthorized access.
