Description
The Bear Inn is a two-storey inn with a three-bay original range facing east. It features a steep slate gabled roof and a red brick chimney on the left, with a shared roughcast stack on the right against the end of No 12. The building has slight eaves brackets and a painted roughcast facade, which includes long and short quoins, a plinth, and a central gable.
On the first floor, there is an unusual central Palladian window with a traceried coloured fanlight above a central sash window, flanked by five-pane horned sash windows on both sides. The ground floor has a central panelled door, with a single five-pane horned sash window to the left, which is aligned inward with the window above, and a pair of five-pane horned sash windows to the right.
At the corner, there is a lower range that has a canted southeast angle and a hipped slate roof with flat eaves. The east side features twelve-pane horned sash windows on both floors, while the canted corner has a four-panel door. The south elevation facing King's Road has a twelve-pane sash window above a tripartite hornless sash window with four, twelve, and four panes, which replaced 20th-century metal windows.
To the left, there is a single-storey range that includes two doors on the left and two windows: a twelve-pane sash and a tripartite four-twelve-four pane sash on the right, which is a remodelling of a 20th-century flat-roofed range with metal windows. The interior of the inn has been modernised.
