Description
The former carthouse and stable opposite the Dolaucothi Arms is a 19th-century building constructed of rubble with squared quoins and a slate roof featuring slated barges. The two-storey symmetrical facade includes three upper 16-pane, 2-light casement windows with cambered stone voussoired heads and slate sills. The ground floor has a central pair of round-arched cart doors, also with stone voussoirs and a central pier of dressed stone. There are planked double doors with strap hinges, and a semicircular window on each side, featuring stone voussoirs and simple tripartite vertical glazing. A datestone is located below the central window.
On the right gable end, there is a ground floor doorway with a cambered stone voussoired head and a divided stable-type planked door. Above this, a blocked door is offset to the right and has a similar head. The left gable end features a ground floor doorway with a 20th-century planked door and a head matching the others. There is a flight of cemented stone steps leading to a planked loft door, which also has a matching head. Beneath the stairs, there is a semicircular stone vaulted recess. At the rear, there are later miscellaneous farm buildings, and an upper door rises to the eaves with a 20th-century door.
