Description
The building is a stable attached to Blaen Ffynnonau, dating from the early 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with three windows, constructed from rubble masonry and slate hung in diminishing courses up to the ground floor sill level. The roof is moderately pitched, featuring plain close eaves and close verges. There are two chimney stacks, a large squat one on the left and a smaller one at the right end, both with water tabling.
The stable exhibits symmetrical features that are offset to the right. The first floor has 16-pane sash windows with slated reveals, while the ground floor windows flanking the door are similar in style. The round arched doorway has a blind fanlight and slated reveals, with a modern door installed. There is a small attic window on the left gable end, alongside a diagonal mullioned and shuttered buttery window on the ground floor.
At the rear, there is a later range made of limewashed rubble masonry, with a slate roof, oversailing eaves, and close verges. This section has a square stack and water tabling, with modern fenestration.
The stable adjoins the house on the right, sharing a continuous roofline. It is also made of limewashed rubble and has a slate roof. There is a loft window below the eaves with wooden shutters, and a doorway offset to the left with a timber lintel; a modern brick lean-to is located on the right. The end wall is set into a slope, featuring stone steps leading to the loft doorway, which has a concrete lintel. A window is present on the rear elevation.
The forecourt is enclosed by a rubble wall, with later brick gatepiers. Inside, there is a good contemporary dog-leg staircase with a moulded newel and plank doors on pintles.
