Description
Ashgrove is a terraced house dating from the 19th century, featuring painted stucco and a slate close-eaved roof with a brick stack at the right end. The building stands three storeys tall and has a renewed full-height canted bay window at the centre, with an arched doorway to the left. The bay window includes 8-12-8-pane sashes on each storey and a top cornice. The entrance has a fine timber doorcase similar to that of No. 89, complete with pilasters, triglyphs, and an open pediment adorned with modillions. The doorway has flush-panelled reveals and a renewed six-panel door beneath a radiating-bar fanlight. The front garden is enclosed by iron spear-head railings on grey-limestone chamfered coping, featuring a matching gate with dog-bars between two cast-iron square gate piers that have panelled sides and pyramid caps, marked 'Coalbrookdale'. There are said to be a cottage and stables at the rear.
Inside, the house has panelled doors and a contemporary staircase aligned with the entry. The staircase features a turned newel at the foot, a continuous rail, square balusters, and scrolled tread ends.
