Description
28 Main Street is a terraced house dating from the 20th century, featuring painted stucco and an asbestos slate roof with no chimneys. The building has a broad three-bay facade across three relatively low storeys. On the second floor, there are three small 4-pane sash windows under the eaves, and on the first floor, there are three larger hornless sash windows. The ground floor has a shopfront on the left and centre, with two 20th-century canted bays, a door between them, and an overall earlier 20th-century tiled hipped roof. To the right of centre, there is a door and a 20th-century plate glass window alongside a broad window.
The interior of the ground floor has been altered, but some oak beams remain in the eastern half, possibly from the 18th century. There is an arch in the back wall, and the staircase is said to have been altered; the lower flight previously descended into the centre of the shop.
