Description

The Castle Inn is a terraced inn built with painted stucco and features a slate close-eaved roof along with brick end stacks. It has brick dentilled eaves that are lower than those of the adjoining properties at Nos. 15 and 19. The building stands three storeys high and has a two-window range, with horizontal channelling on the upper floors and thin pilasters at the outer edges. The ground floor has been modernised. On the top floor, there are two hornless six-pane sash windows, and on the first floor, there are two hornless twelve-pane sash windows. The ground floor includes a door on the extreme right that leads to a former through passage, and on the left, there is a later 20th-century inn front with a door situated between two projecting canted bays, which have an overall fascia. Above the door, there is an overlight, and the projecting bays rest on rubble stone bases.

At the rear, there are various additions, and a passage is located on the west side. The interior has been altered and is long and narrow, with stairs positioned behind the front left room.
