Description

12 Victoria Place is an end-terraced house that has been converted into commercial premises. The building features painted stucco and a slate roof that is hipped at an angle, with paired brackets supporting the overhanging eaves. It stands three storeys tall and has two bays, with a sill band at the second floor and a moulded cornice at the first floor level. The windows are hornless sashes, with nine panes on the top floor and twelve panes on the first floor. The ground floor exhibits channelled rustication and has a square-headed door on the left, which is recessed in a square-headed surround. This door is a 20th-century replacement made for the Prudential Assurance Company. It was noted that in 1976, there was an original fielded three-panel door with a plain overlight. To the right, there is a modern shop window.

The river front also consists of three storeys and a basement, featuring a ridge chimney. It has three bays, with a sill band at the second floor and a cornice at the first floor that extends around the corners. The window bays are arranged with two on the right and one on the left. The windows are similar to those on the front, but the twelve-pane sashes on the first and ground floors are adorned with attractive wrought-iron guards designed in the early 19th-century neo-Grec style by L. Cottingham. The left-hand window on the ground floor has been altered, and this bay has channelling that continues from the main front. The basement contains a blank window, door, and a nine-pane sash.

The interior has not been inspected. The ground floor has been altered for use as offices, but the stair may still be intact.
