Description

16 High Street is an end terrace house and shop, featuring a painted stucco street elevation that rises three storeys. The building has one bay, a hipped slate roof, and nogged brick eaves. On the upper floor, there is a single 4-pane hornless sash window. The first floor has a later 19th-century canted oriel window with a moulded cornice and fixed 6-pane glazing at the front. The ground floor shopfront includes a recessed centre door with an overlight and a 3-pane shop window on each side, with the inner windows canted in. There is a panelled soffit in front of the door.

The right end of the building, facing Bank Lane, features a 12-pane hornless sash window with glazing bars on both upper floors, along with a plate glass window on the ground floor to the right. It also has a slate-hung projection under the eaves. The range continues to the right with three bays that share the same toothed brick eaves cornice. The two right-hand bays contain 12-pane sash windows on the upper floors and two plain fixed windows on the ground floor. The left-hand bay has an 8-pane stair window situated between the first and second floors. An arched doorway that was located below, featuring two slate steps, deep reveals, and a door with six carved panels, has been removed and rendered over since 1977.
