Description

Barclays Bank is a bank and office building constructed with painted stucco and a slate roof, featuring a large stuccoed chimney stack on the right. The east elevation has three storeys and three bays, topped with a plain cornice and parapet. There is a raised band at the first and second floors, along with moulded window surrounds. The upper floors have twelve-pane sash windows, while the bank features plate glass sashes. The second-floor windows have plain architraves, the first-floor windows have segmental headed architraves with keystones, and the ground floor has segmental headed architraves with keystones and shoulders. All openings except those on the ground floor have sash windows with glazing bars.

The narrow right return wall has a similar sash window on each upper floor, along with an arched doorway that features a moulded arch, raised keystone, spring stones, panelled pilasters, a plain fanlight, and a six-panelled door. The left side wall includes a band and two ground floor windows with plain raised surrounds. There is a wing on the left side, matching the height of the main building and slightly stepped forward, which has a parapet and two twelve-pane sashes on the right, along with one ground floor centre plate glass sash.

The interior of the bank has been modernised, featuring a 20th-century stair.
